I didn’t expect to start something like this, but here I am.
Unpicking old kimono, figuring out their stories, and trying to find ways to help people connect with Japanese culture more casually and easily.
This is itotoi—a small project where I take old Japanese fabrics and give them a new life.
I’ve always liked traditional textiles—kimono, obi, tenugui. Not just because they’re beautiful, but because they somehow carry a feeling, like they’ve seen someone’s life.
I’m still getting everything set up. Making pieces, photographing them, building an online shop (slowly!), and figuring out how to talk about it all.
Through this blog, I want to share the things I make, but also some thoughts about Japanese culture and everyday life here in Japan. It’s a mix of personal and cultural, I guess.
If you’ve found this early on—thank you!
It’s all just starting, but I’m excited to see where it goes.
